Puerto Rico – Winter Break 2016

Ever since coming back from studying abroad, I’ve had the desire to keep traveling. Since my university’s winter break is 4 weeks long, I thought it would be the perfect time to get some traveling in. Early September, I started planning the trip with my friend, Jaini. After completing a lot of research on places we could possibly go to, we decided on Puerto Rico.

We wanted to go somewhere that was warm, safe, and not too expensive; and Puerto Rico seemed like the perfect place. The trip was 9 days long. We flew to Puerto Rico on the morning of December 19th and returned home on December 28th. In order to conserve money, we decided to stay at an Airbnb in Condado, San Juan. We mostly traveled within San Juan. However, we did complete excursions to other parts of Puerto Rico as well.

Below are some pictures from the trip. Enjoy!

First day in Puerto Rico! We spent most of the day exploring Condado and settling into our Airbnb.

Day 2 – Old San Juan

Castillo San Cristobal, a fort in Old San Juan. Tickets were $5 and valid for entrance to both forts (San Cristobal and El Morro).

Pina Colada at Barrachina, which claims to be where the drink was invented.

Day 3: Isla Verde

Beach day at Isla Verde Beach. It was a 10 min Uber drive from Condado

Day 4: Excursion to Culebra

Took a power boat from Fajardo to Culebra. We had the opportunity to snorkel near the island and explore Flamenco beach.

Day 5 – Calle Ponce de Leon and Bio Bay Excursion

Bring a book, take a book!
Santurce has some of the most amazing street art. This one, in particular, is 3D.
